Troubleshooting Engine failure of Civic 1200 EB2 engine

By Gusto - Published on 28 January 2012

Going through checked steps to diagnose this engine failure in my 1979 Honda Civic soon after a head gasket replacement. The step mentioned when I accidentally muffled the microphone was that the timing belt is still there in one piece. One step not performed in today's diagnosis was turning the crankshaft, but if piston rings have gone, it won't do the cylinder walls any good (if they are still any good). Don't worry if I sound completely useless and don't know what I'm talking about - I'm not a mechanic ;) More info here: http://www.1stgencivic.com/world/c1zr/m1/forum/viewtopic.php?t=11537&start=80
