Maleny Muscle on the Mountain: Classic Restos Series 35

By Shannons - Published on 15 August 2017

Fletch heads north of Brisbane to the beautiful township of Maleny for the Muscle on the Moutain Car Show. What started out as a muscle car show some six years ago, is now a car show open to all types of cars and motorcycles. Fletch gets out amongst the enthusiasts and uncovers some real gems, like Linda's 1971 Holden HG Premier sedan which is in original condition and the same ownership for 46 years since purchased new in 1971. Local Identity Dan Bowden of 'Bowden's Own' fame has attended this event since its inception and has brought out a family treasure, a racing prototype Ford XA Phase 4 GT Falcon. The car which was tipped to have a top speed of 160 mph, but never got to race at Bathurst with Government regulations introduced that saw the end of the true muscle car market in Australia. Next up is Brian with a beautifully presented 1959 Plymouth Wagon (8 seater) that has been fully restored right here in Queensland, Wayne with a 1977 LX Torana SS that has undergone extensive modification by the owner over six years. Finally a 1966 Ford Mercury that the owner spotted during a Route 66 Tour in the US and decided to purchase. Maleny Muscle on the Moutain Car continues to attract vast numbers of exhibitors and spectators and well worth a visit to next years event.
