Day of the Volkswagen: Classic Restos - Series 36

By Shannons - Published on 25 January 2018

Fletch attends the 'Day of the Volkswagen' one of the largest Volkswagen events in Australia, featuring all things Volkswagen.
The first VW Beetle was produced in 1938 through 2003 and produced 21.5 Million cars over that period.

VW enthusiasts were in abundance and happy to share their stories, like Ursula with her stylish 1960 Karman Ghia, Roy with a beautifully presented 1966 21 Window VW Kombi Microbus with a rare sliding side door feature and the iconic front split windows.

Then there is Craig with his family heirloom, a 54/55 VW beetle that has been in the one family since purchased in 1957 and travelled over 400,000 miles before the current family member took on a 4-year full restoration. Then something a little different, Daniel's fully customised 1975 VW Ute and in complete contrast is Chris's  original 1956 VW Beetle, which he refers to like more a preservation than a restoration, as it is in the same condition as purchased from the original owner who had the car for 60 years. VW 's come in many shapes and sizes,  but they are all one big VW Family. A very popular event and one to keep an eye out in the future.
