Yes Silvercloud, those Boss 302 Mustangs built for the 1969 Trans-Am series were indeed homologation specials. The SCCA required a minimum of 1000 production units to be eligible, but I think Ford built more (around 1600) to satisfy customer demand for the car. It was amazing what those wizards at Kar Kraft did to make them winning race cars. The first race-spec Boss 302 built by KK for the '69 season (see below) showed how much they tweaked the sheetmetal from the firewall forward to slope the nose down for better aero. That's a major reason why Moffat's car looked so tough!
