I/ was lucky enough to visit the Bowen,s car collection in Buderim QLD when they owned this original rare street legal 1966 GT40. Keven Bartlett dropped in in the Channel 9 Camaro (drove it down the driveway) and gave a good yarn about the first outing of the GT40 not long after it arrived in the country. They entered it in a Targa rally in Adelaide and Dan Bowden was the navigator. The speedo was not working and KB tells the story of hitting the rev limiter in 4th gear over a rise in the road and getting slightly airbourne before punching in into 5th gear for the long straight . At the end of the day the mechanic calculated they were traveling in excess of 160mph before they hit 5th gear which KB replied " yeah it felt pretty quick" A pic of and original 1965 Cobra the Bowen boys drive the streets in.
