Hey Joe, you're right. One car really had to do everything in those days so for me it would have been the mighty XR Falcon wagon. Bill Bourke's new baby was spacious, strong, powerful and a real looker, too. Those old Skippy TV series episodes give a good insight into car ownership in the 1960s. Matt Hammond's XR Falcon 500 wagon was often seen being driven across all sorts of terrain including dirt roads, rugged bush tracks, creek crossings etc. Australians didn't own 4x4s. They just expected that their family car could go anywhere and do anything and the new XRs were ideally suited to that role.
