Thanks JonP01. I was delighted to publish this story on the Shannons Club as I reckon Jim Hunter's efforts at Baja in 1987 were never given the accolades they deserved at the time. Mind you, the XF Falcon did also briefly compete in the AUSCAR ranks in the early days of Calder Park's Thunderdome in 1988. The two Mick Webb-built cars, which like Hunter's ute were fitted with 351cid V8s, were very quick and Jim Richards' car (seen below) won first time out, but they were soon replaced with the then-latest EA model with smaller 302 V8. Brocky also had a guest drive at some stage. I didn't have space to include the XF AUSCARS story with the Baja yarn, but they will be included in the Shannons Club TV episode on the XF Falcon.
