Ah yes, the history of the iconic speed shop stretches back much further than the 1960s. I reckon the Model T Ford was the progenitor of the speed shop and that started in the US in the 1920s. The Ts were so cheap and plentiful that many young enthusiasts could afford to buy them and then 'hot' them up using a vast array of aftermarket parts developed specifically for them. Needless to say, in this context the parallels between the Model T in the 1920s and early model Holden in the 1950s-60s are palpable.
