Thanks for your input fellas. It's interesting to see that so many automotive icons were born in 1963. And as 66FBK has highlighted, it was also the year that the Armstrong 500 moved to Mount Panorama after three years at the crumbling Phillip Island track. Bob Jane and Harry Firth won Class C and took outright 'line honours' in the first Bathurst 500 (there was no outright winner acknowledged until 1965) in a Cortina GT, taking almost eight hours (7hrs 47mins 14secs) to complete the 130 laps. How times change.
