Thanks Pony. Frank Gardner debuted the always-controversial Corvair in 1976 in white John Player livery (see below) before a change to black, which is how the car looked when it won the 1977 Australian Sports Sedan Championship. It changed to white and metallic gold Craven Mild colours when Allan Grice drove the car in 1978-79, after which it was banned. There were numerous cars that ran this pin-sharp livery in the 1970s, but they were all run by separate teams. So in answer to your question, Pete's last year in the Monaro was 1976 so the Monaro and Corvair probably competed against each other on a few occasions that year.
