That's a great insight about Charles McCuen, edphillibert74. As you say, when he was almost killed testing the Firebird 1 and then retired soon after, his departure meant GM lost a strong supporter of turbines. Mind you, what was GM's Global Head of R&D doing testing a prototype that even its nominated test driver, ex-Indy 500 winner Mauri Rose, had not given a shaken down run? And Andrewbris, yep, most car designs never go uncopied! Is it me or were the 2015 Chevrolet Malibu and the 2020 Bentley separated at birth?
