Cool photos and info guys. Many thanks for your contributions. You've prompted me to dig deeper into my archives and look more closely at the HK Holden taxi brochure. One spread shown below (left-click to view full page) highlights the many useful features of the GM-H Taxi Pack of the era, which included a "Magnetic Gearbox Chip Collector on manual models to minimise wear in the gearbox" (I would have thought using the clutch and not flat-changing would have been more effective). There were also heavy-duty rubber mats, seat cushions and backrests (I wonder if they were really any different to a standard model), wiring in the roof all ready for your taxi sign and provision in the dashboard for meter installation (a removable panel which could be replaced when its taxi days were over). I do remember riding in several HK/HT/HG taxis when I was a kid, but I had no idea then that they were fitted with something as high-tech as a Magnetic Gearbox Chip Collector (which was just a magnetic drain plug from memory).
