Driving a three year old EK Holden Automatic wagon. It was fully laden, as I was helping my cousin move. We were on the old Western Highway towards Ballarat and there are a few hills. Single lane in those days, and the EK was going up and down gears every few seconds. I reckon every one behind us on that Friday night was in first gear. Same with my automatic Mazda E2000 van when it was loaded up with books. I could get out and walk with it up the Toowoomba range, but anywhere on the Hume, Newell, New England and Bruce Highways, the slightest incline would be a struggle. Seventeen years I put up with this, but it never let me down.
