That's a great assessment morgul. The Ford works team's 1969 Bathurst tyre fiasco is an excellent example of Moffat's skill. The clutch-type LSDs in those Phase One GT-HOs packed up early, so the Geoghegan and Gibson/Seton cars were burning up their right rear tyres by applying too much power up through the steep and off-camber Griffins Bend when that tyre was unloaded. As a result, both suffered right rear tyre failures but when Al Turner brought Moffat in to change his tyres as a precautionary measure (which cost him any chance of winning) his right rear was fine. Moffat had immediately sensed this diff problem and adapted his driving style to save his tyres. A very smart operator.
