There are some very nicely styled cars in the modern car market, but I've found that you can only appreciate them if you find yourself in a (rare) situation where they can be viewed in isolation. The greatest challenge for today's car designers is making a car stand out from the pack, because with the overwhelming emphasis on aerodynamic efficiency to minimise wind noise and maximise fuel/emissions efficiency they're all working in the same wind tunnel. The grille is really the only place left these days where they can stand out, which is why we're seeing increasingly bold designs in that area. I hate the look of the Lexus grille, but at least you can tell what it is at a glance.
