My all-time favourite from Newport Pagnell is the four-headlight DBS V8 coupe produced from 1969-1972. These things are pretty rare because they only built 405 of them. And beyond the hand-stitched leather interior and hand-filed aluminium body, there’s a magnificent 5.3 litre, fuel-injected DOHC V8 under the bonnet capable of genuine 160 mph (256 km/h) performance. And in true AM tradition, there's even a small plaque attached to each one of these engines bearing the name of the craftsman who carefully assembled it by hand. So cool. To me these things just look like 160mph standing still. The perfect combination of elegance and broad-shouldered brute force!
