Agreed racer1 - the Mini knocked all the minimalist cars such as the Zeta, Goggomobil and so on simply on price, size and dealerships in most country towns. It had a two or three year start on the Zeta which was announced in November 1963. I've mentioned it before, but Lightburn supplied all the original equipment jacks for the Mini and other BMC products. When reminded of this after a TV commercial showing a Zeta going past a broken Mini in the '64 Ampol Trial, Harold Lightburn quickly removed the ad, rather than risk losing a very big order. More money in jacks than cars! I'm not sure of the Toyota 700 sales in this country, but until the Corolla arrived in 1967, it wasn't too big a threat to anyone - it wasn't in the top 25 cars sold in 1963 and 1964, and only 126 were sold in 1966. The Corolla changed all that.
