Hey Muz, I had that problem with one of the Kombi Vans I owned (the 1968 model Camper) with slipping out of top gear, and like you, I had the strap holding it. We should patent that idea! I told the guy I sold it to but he was just sitting at the wheel looking out the windscreen imagining his first camping trip, and his wife was busy working on changing the curtains!! I also told him about the brakes sometimes binding, due to the "Compensating Orifice" in the brake unit (the valve would sometimes only work one way) I had times where I was under the Kombi cracking the bleeder open while the missus pushed the brake pedal. I told him that Girlock had fixed it (hopefully) I don't think he heard me, he paid me and they happily drove off into the sunset. I thought to myself "Hope he knows how to down-change to second gear on the hills"
