One final point, perhaps it our generations fault that the prices of classic cars shot through the roof. Putting cars into SMSFs or showing a willingness to pay stupid prices for cars that aside from the nostalgia perspective simply can't justify the prices being asked. I mean really, $60,000 for an XY Futura? My Verada is quicker than an XY HO, outhandles it, outbrakes it, has better interior, is far safer, is probably only a handful of kays short of it in top speed etc etc etc and it cost me less than $5,000 as opposed to what, $600,000? That's why the younger generations aren't touching classic cars. They can get their fix cheaper and better.
This is a great point, point where common sense takes over from nostalgia. Younger generation's desired cars totally outclass older cars performance wise. They have 1000HP GTRs and Supra, why would would bother with a overpriced relic that does 16sec quarter mile time? When I first got my old WRX, someone in a GTHO tried to keep up with me in the twisties near Kangaroo valley way. Ran up my a*** on the straight until turn 1 when I was coasting, OK, opened it up in turn 1, turn 2 pulled 20 car lengths then never saw him after that, can hear him struggling but no chance. Mine was stock station wagon and I was lowest tier in my club in terms of speed then. Lost all respect for that car, 600K for one of those to lose to a stock jap c*** station wagon, got to have rocks in the head to want one of those. Below 600HP Honda civic, all motor, running 8s, just bonkers
