I really liked the American style ZH and P6 style Fairlanes and LTDs which were being sold alongside the XD Falcon range for a few months but also really liked the very Euro style of the XD range.[/quote] I remember driving XC Falcon and XD Falcon back to back and it was hard to believe they essentially shared the same chassis ... my only real disappointment at the time related to the interior trim, particularly that ugly and poorly fitted black plastic dashboard ... the XD had a fantastic instrumentation layout, but otherwise a lousy dash! As for the P6 LTD, I think the 1979 year saw Ford re-release the LTD Town Car, recognised best by its unique body painted hub cap centre sections ... a great limousine, which I personally place in the same realm as the following year's release by General Motors (Holden), that being the 1980 WB Statesman Caprice. Diverging a little here, does anyone recall the WB Series II update of 1983 ? ... Ford had by this time killed off the V8-powered Fairlane and LTD twins, and Holden decided it would play this card in television promotion of the Series II Statesman DeVille ...
