Here's another comparison Mark - the Australian designed and built Austin 1800 Ute, and something that I'm pretty familiar with.... Utes A, B and C are HK Holden, XT Falcon and VE Valiant. The 1800 was bigger in most respects, and what's more, the space was usable. Standard sheets of masonite could lie flat on the floor between the wheel arches and could fit in with the tail-gate up. This one of the advantages of not being built over a station wagon platform. I put a new 1800 ute beside my brother's AP6 ute and he went a bit quiet when he realised how useful the space was. As I said before, it was traded on an 1800 sedan, but I reckon he would have gone for the ute if by then he didn't have two small children. Sure the 1800 found the going tough when fully laden on wet grass, but so did the Valiant when unladen. Worthy of a separate topic!
