The Gremlin was definitely a daring and unique design but I have to agree with JRM3150 that it wasn't visually pleasing. To me it looked like a Hornet that had been seriously rear-ended in a freeway pile-up and repaired to look that way. Even so, 670,000+ buyers would obviously disagree with me, so these opinions are always subjective. I did pity AMC with its continual lack of funds though. It must have been so frustrating for Richard Teague and his team but they did create some wonderful vehicles like the all-wheel-drive AMC Eagle (below). Those high-riding sedans and wagons were clearly way ahead of their time, when you look at the success Subaru has enjoyed (and continues to enjoy) with a similar theme.
