Flat4: Glad to see you finally settled for a 'proper car' (jury here at the Shannons club being still out on the Tesla) - and it certainly 'looks the business'. I have always looked at that model WRX and thought "If only I was in my 20's again" (ha ha) but as Pony and I have expressed on many occasions, we're both 'at home' with our classics. Anyway, having noted you labelling your 2003 WRX as a 'shopping trolley' I hope you will do a bit more motoring in this one. You certainly sound rapt - have fun!
Thanks Mike! I have my hang up about Tesla, I do love them but its a Iphone1. Its a product that needs to mature, jury is out for me too, especially considering the price they are asking. Honestly no Tesla as is fun as this STI, it just inst. The cornering, acceleration, the feel, the looks and of course the sound it makes. makes any man giggle. I've been a Subaru person for a long time, everyone has their brand like you guys with your classics. I'm in my 40s I still love these stupid cars. The shopping trolley, I make light of it but it's actually a sleeper build, I've done a bit of motorsport in it. Looks like a boring wagon but it has a long list of go fast parts to it, rare parts from the Subaru Motorsport Group-N rally catalogue too, including the rally car turbo. Its as fast it can be on a stock motor and pistons. But also its really practical too, hence calling it a shopping trolley and is also my daily. 400HP, 0 to 100 in 4.4s, I've beaten Ferrari F360s in drag races and the new BMW M4 at the lights, with a mattress strapped to the roof...
Flat4 I don't think Mike or myself would entertain the idea of 'finding the limit' in an ST-I ~~ I reckon my Pulse BPM would be hovering in the high zone. My car is exciting enough for me (just ask my dry-cleaner) So Mike and I could only look on with amazement at the Suby's handling prowess. . I'd love to know what lap time yours could do around Lakeside, in standard trim and road tyres. . I think it would stun a few blokes.
I'm in NSW, was part of the NSW WRX club for awhile. Also was lucky enough to have Garth Tander (V8 supercars champion) at the driver training day couching me. Made me realise I'm not as good as driver I thought I was. lap times are based more on the driver than the car. With either of my cars, the car's potential far exceeds what I'm capable of. I think need a Aussie Stig to set some times. But there should be a lot of times already from the Vic WRX club with these cars.
