The release of the Hornet by Australian Motor Industries must have been a bit of a big thing as many magazines ran articles on it. The cover is from a Wheels magazine back in 1970 and the other article is from Australian Motor Manual June 1970 a few months before the Australian release which ended up being October 1970 (US was late 69). There was mention in the Wheels article that they test drove a Hornet in February that year with positive comments. AMI was looking at 150 per month but as history shows they fell off that mark somewhat possibly due to the price ie you could go and buy a GT Falcon or Monaro for similar money. Shame they didn't hit the 150 per month mark as there would be a lot more left on the road. Estimates of how many are left today are around 40 to 50 registered and only approx 200 survive in one way shape or form (many of them wrecks and parts cars) out of the 1825 or so built in Australia.
