My take on the 4 door Mustang is that it has arrived, twice. I wrote in my Design to Driveway book (volume 4) that the 1969 XW Falcon was as close as anyone would ever get to a 4 door Mustang. It took all its styling cues from the 1969 Mustang, deliberately. The second instance is the new Mustang Mach E.
