I did research into the GM J-car for a Retroautos story a few years ago. GM sold 10 million of them globally between 1981 and 2005. I consider the J-car as a "world car", not really badge engineered, because it began as a world wide project. Indeed, Wheels magazine did a story about the US versions as a preview of what to expect in Australia.
