Of the 3 sub-compacts, Gremlin, Vega and Pinto, I think the Gremlin has withstood the test of time in the classic car market. Ok, so the styling is not perfect, but AMC was really like an Australian based car company at the time: they had to make-do with scarce resources, and had to be inventive to survive. Indeed, the Gremlin was still on the market in 1983 as the Spirit: 2 door coupe and hatchback. The styling had transitioned to a well proportioned small car.
