In January 1970, someone at Ford in the USA had a bright idea to give the Falcon name plate one more moment in the sun. They stripped the two and four door Torino sedan and wagon of every comfort item, glued couple of Falcon badges to the mudguards and slapped on a cheap price tag. The advertising was directed at young families and pensioners: The newlyweds and nearly deads, so I read somewhere. By a strange quirk of corporate fate the final Falcon could be ordered with every engine and transmission combination in the Ford line up, including the massive seven litre CobraJet V8. Only sixty nine people were smart enough to recognise that a CobraJet Falcon was planet’s cheapest muscle car offer in 1970. It was the muscle car bargain of the year. Not many of the last US Falcons exist today. Those that survive tend to fall into two categories: Well maintained V8s and scrap metal.
