Extraordinary to think that companies such as Reliant and AC could produce such outstanding performance cars and three-wheel cars at the same time, with nothing else in the range. After the formation of British Leyland in 1968, Reliant could rightly boast they were second biggest British owned car company. AC built the Petite and also a number of invalid cars, which were built under contract to the British Ministry of Health. If you see any historic videos of British football matches during the '60s and '70s, there was always a line up of mainly pale blue invalid cars around the field. By 1978 they were deemed unsafe and it was found that converting a car such as a Mini made better economic sense.
