The Scarab sports racing car was the product of Lance Reventlow's determination, vision and very deep pockets. Powered by a small block Chevy the Scarab could take the fight up to the Ferraris, Maseratis and other European thoroughbred sports cars. Lance Reventlow also less successfully funded the construction of single seater Scarabs for Formula one competition, but the day of the front engined GP car was by then over.
