What an iconic car is the Australian Fairlane. It was once such an aspirational vehicle to own, and for many of us, me included, it still is. I've dug into my files and found two Australian Fairlane styling proposals to share. The photo of the black ZC Fairlane was taken on 16th April, 1968. Note that it has flush door handles. The ZF proposal photo, dated 16th September, 1968 shows how far in advance the Ford Australia design team, led by Jack Telnack, was working. The inside story of the ZA's Australian development is featured in my book series Design to Driveway (volumes 3 and 4) of which a few copies are still on the shelves in the Shannons Shop. (Here's a LINK: https://shannons-club-shop.myshopify.com/) The ZF story is in the September 2017 edition of Retroautos: Here's the link:https://www.shannons.com.au/club/news/retroautos-september-2017-exclusive-zf-fairlane-prototypes-1966-buick-rivieraej/ The P5 Laundau and P6 LTD styling proposals are in the October 2017 edition. Our family owned a P6 LTD from new. Here's the only pic of it. Wish I had it today!
