Yes, I don't think the AU's huge popularity amongst taxi owners was helpful really. Ford marketing people thought it was terrific because in their minds it showed the public how well-built and durable the AU was compared to the Commodore. However, it was actually a negative experience for many passengers, given that many of these taxis were dirty inside and out with stained seats, smudged windows, smelly carpet mats etc. For many people a taxi ride was their only experience of an AU Falcon, which did not leave a good impression.
