I never got into slot-car racing but my eldest brother did when we were kids in the 1970s. He used to experiment with different chassis designs, electric motors, sticky tyres and even 'guesstimate' aerodynamics. He also had an assortment of car bodies and the one I best remember was a 1969 Mustang Fastback in Allan Moffat's Brut 33 colours. All of these ideas were regularly tested at our local slot car track at Waitara on Sydney's upper north shore. I have fond memories of that facility and its awesome high-speed layout with multiple banked turns etc which took up most of a large factory's floor-space. Amazingly, it's still there and here's a recent photo of just part of the track.
