I'd argue that for someone my height (188cm), headroom was still seriously compromised in some prominent post-2000 models. For example, I remember sitting in the then-new Mercedes-Benz CLS sedan at a motor show in 2004 and could not believe how low the roof was. Like, with the driver's seat at its lowest setting and the backrest reclined to a point where I could barely touch the steering wheel with my fingertips, my head was still touching the roof! The V2/VZ Monaro had a similar problem which ensured it was never on my wish-list.
