I have a real admiration for those who drove the Indy 500 roadsters, MO. And it is great to see the rendering of the #4 Jim Rathmann driven Ken-Paul Special (winner in 1960) in the advertisement for the Shannons Club Indy 500 Trip competition. That car was probably one of the 2 or 3 greatest Indy Roadsters ever built. Jim Rathmann went on to own the Cadillac dealership near NASA's Cape Canaveral, and was the guy who organised for all the astronauts to be given new Chev Corvettes each year. Here's two pics I took of what is said to be the #4 car, at the Indy Museum a couple of years ago. There is plenty of conjecture about how "original" this car is, given it was raced for a few years after its 1960 indy success. I've always wondered what racing would be like now if the front engined roadsters had evolved into a separate category and been updated every year. The closest I've ever sen to what "might have been" is the big block V8 supermodifieds that run on the pavement in the north east of the USA.These are seriously quick automobiles on the half mile and mile tracks.
