Not sure I'd agree about the reasons the Nano was a failure, johnh875. The grand idea was to get the population off their scooters - whole families on them wobbling around in front of huge trucks, like this one I saw last time I was in India. The story of the Nano is remarkable as told in this book I picked while I was there in 2013. The problem was that if a family could afford a Nano, they could just about afford a more conventional car - the gap between scooter ownership and car ownership was just too wide. The concept was brilliant; unfortunately all sorts of problems got in the way.
