Craig touring car racing at the time was truly the era of "win on Sunday sell on Monday" Cars were commonly road registered and driven to and hopefully from race meetings. These ventures were often interstate and used as something of a final test or running in exercise. My Monaro wore the Victorian registration KBY-191 at Bathurst in 1968 which ultimately lead to its rediscovery as a road car in the early 2000s. Certainly not the first time that registration numbers facilitated the identification of former race cars. Almost like wearing the VIN on the outside!
