The new issue of Retro Auto's is out already so I wont do anymore here. There is plenty more stories like winding it off the 120mph clock then realising I only had retreads on while at that speed with everything vibrating like we were about to attempt time travel!!! Driving to Wollongong light house where a lot of nice cars used to hang out. On the way got a flat on Appin road. Jacked it up but jumped back as i thought i could hear a snake. Another retread!!! Do they even make them anymore?. Turned out tyre on other side was deflating as well so stuck on side of road for awhile no mobile phones back then. Or the story of the tatty Hornet in backyard pic was a Dubbo car and had a full manual gearbox set-up which looked factory. Rumours abound a handful of OZ Hornets had manuals. Was this one of them? Who knows. Or how I spent 6 months tracking my Hornet back down in 2003/4 and finding it literally a couple of minutes from my parents house near Campbelltown in a blokes backyard out in weather and his Mrs was onto him to get rid of it as "the kids will eventually fall off the roof while playing on it". Which they used to do! I will eventually do a thread on www.theamcforum.com under "General AMC chat Australian Edition" where if you have a good rummage you will find plenty of information about Australian AMC's including Hornets etc. I just dont know how to put the pics up on that forum but once I do i will do a full story of the how I got into Hornets up to the day I bolt the new number plates onto it. Plus you will find info and photo's of the Australian AMC/Rambler shows which next year celebrates 50 years of the javelin and AMX and there will be a few Hornets present. Come and say hello if you make it down (promo shot attached I took for the 1st one in 2014) When I sold the Hornet the second time in about 94 I took up one of my other lifetime interests. Speedway. Thats me taking a tumble in my Mini at Parramatta about 1996 or so. But that's another heap of stories :-) Lots of fun. The way life should be :-)
