Desert beige photo's how I bought it from Terry Mullins at Liverpool 88/89. Was looking for one after drooling over a mate's photo a few years earlier of his parents one they bought new but was in wrecking yard after being written off. I couldnt find one and was still on my L's and wanted a car. I put a deposit on a HQ but dad saw this one tucked up the back of the lot so I bought it without even test driving it. Drove it around on my L's etc (sometimes even without lol) The 6 went real well but was tired and parts were hard to come by (pre ebay etc) which is why many AMC's fell into disrepair I reckon and the two parts places were expensive for an apprentice on $120 a week so an XA wagon bought for $150 donated its Cleveland running gear (I reckon the 6 felt punchier then the big Clevo). A kit was purchased from the Victorian AMC club to slot it straight in. Not sure why blinkers were out although in this case they had been made into spotlights. Had a lot of fun in this car and good memories of doing it up with my dad as many a youngster used to do (painted black pics early 90's). Not many Hornets have been left stock which makes the maroon one in the Retro Auto's article all the more special.
