I reckon that if ever Ford re-introduced the Thunderbird it would be as an all electric model. I would not expect it to be a personal car again, rather it could well be a "cross-over" vehicle shared with Lincoln. Meanwhile, here's some old adverts that Ford's T-Bird agency, J.Walter Thompson, created over the years. The two 1955 ads show the car with and with out the chromed side sweep-spear.It was deleted just prior to production but too late to be erased from the first series of ads. The other ad is for the early 1980s T-Bird. It is almost a plea to buyers to remain loyal. The first car I ever drove in the USA was one one of these early '80s T-Birds. It was a Hertz rental and my wife and I drove it around LA and Beverly Hills for two weeks and then spent a week driving up to San Francisco via the Pacific Coast highway. The suspension was ultra soft, it did not handle the corners and the power was minimal but we were just so pleased to be in a T-Bird that we did not care about the shortcomings. Such is the allure of an iconic brand name!
