The Mark IV Super Snipes did well in the first two Redex Trials, coming in second in 1953 after Ken Tubman's Peugeot 203. All six entered managed to finish, which isn't a bad record. Nine entered the next year with six finishing. One of the notable entries in '54 was the Australian Women's Weekly Super Snipe crewed by three women, but they 'retired' after almost getting back to Sydney at Orbost in Victoria. Another, driven by Tom Sulman, a well known trials and racing driver, brought his into 5th place. These big Brits were suited to Australian conditions. One of the biggest criticisms against them was that they were too like the Hawk which came out two or three years before, and with the exception of a bigger boot, offered no more interior room.
