I'm happy to see 'freeway64' mention the Toyota Tarago, a well-received and long-lived device in the Australian marketplace ... but again, like the Kombi, based upon a commercial van. Referencing automotive nomenclature, it's interesting to reflect upon vehicle descriptions, moving from the mini-van through to SUV (sports utility vehicle), have we forgotten the MPV (multi-purpose vehicle) ?? ... and yes, the Japanese certainly played a large part in this portfolio in the 1980s ... I mean, who can forget the Nissan Prairie or Mitsubishi Nimbus, the latter scoring Wheels Car of the Year Award in 1984 ... classics indeed !?!? ...
