This 1977 Holden LX Torana A9X Hatchback that remained hidden in a Sydney’s Northern Suburbs storage ‘cage’ for 27 years, is expected to sell in the $200,000-$250,000 range.

• Original Torana A9X Hatchback comes to auction

• Offered by long-term owner of 27 years

• Ticks all boxes for serious A9X collector

An ultra-desirable 1977 Holden LX Torana A9X Hatchback that remained hidden in a Sydney’s Northern Suburbs storage ‘cage’ for 27 years, has roared back into life to become one of the most sought-after lots of Shannons Sydney Autumn Auction on March 12.

The ultra-desirable 1977 Holden LX Torana A9X Hatchback being auctioned in Sydney on March 12,  ticks ‘all the boxes’ for A9X enthusiasts and collectors, according to Shannons.

Finished in the same Jasmine Yellow with Slate Black vinyl colour scheme in which it rolled off the production line in just over 40 years ago, this fabulous A9X has been hidden from view for many years while the owner worked interstate

Now re-awakened from its long slumber, the Torana is in surprisingly good mechanical health and presents exceptionally well throughout, with only 94,184km showing on its odometer.

Despite its enforced ‘hibernation,’ the Torana’s interior appears to have retained' its original upholstery and trim.

According to Shannons, the Hatchback ticks all the boxes for the serious A9X collector: long-term ownership; off-the-radar for many years; all major components present; and correct with books and good provenance.

The Torana was repainted in its original colour many years ago using correct Acrylic paint and still presents beautifully today. It wears period Simmons alloy wheels, with its original steel spare still in the boot, while its interior appears to retain its original upholstery and trim.

The ‘uncaged’ 1977 Holden LX Torana A9X Hatchback being auctioned by Shannons on March 12 retains its original, matching numbers 5.0 litre V8 engine and four-speed manual gearbox.

Because of its stunning time-warp condition and great provenance, Shannons expect the A9X Hatchback to sell in the $200,000-$250,000 range on March 12.
