Model car manufacturer Trax produces many iconic examples of the cars we know and love. We review the Holden HR Premier Wagon, the 1952 Rover 75 P4, the 1956 Ford Mainline Utility, the Simca Aronde Wagon, the Holden HD Utility and the Ford Single Spinner Utility. You can see the whole range at topgear.com.au

Holden HR Premier Wagon
Whether you were on the dusty roads of outback Australia or the genteel streets of Toorak, the Holden Premier wagon had room for all the family and their luggage. Cosseted in rich red upholstery and featuring the latest US influenced styling, the HR Premier wagon typified the more upwardly mobile Australian way of transport in 1967. This 1/43rd scale model is right on the money, with superb detail. The silver duco and red interior is perfectly captured in Holden’s top selling luxury load liner.

1952 Rover 75 P4
The archetypal English Rover 75 was the choice of Doctors, Chemists and upper management during the 1950’s. With smooth coachwork, sumptuous leather interiors and walnut accents, this roomy luxury car was more like a boardroom than mere transport. The Rover found favour in Australia with its oh so British design cues, reminding those in the antipodes of mother England. This Trax model in 1/43rd scale really does capture the charm of the original. The green duco is the perfect choice for this charming aristocrat.

1956 Ford Mainline Utility
If you were a “Cocky with Cash” and a Holden just wouldn’t do, the Ford Mainline was the choice of transport for the farmer who really did have everything. Offering V8 power, a huge load capacity, big car comfort and a large dose of prestige, the Mainline was a very popular choice at a time when Australia was one of the world’s wealthiest nations. This 1/43rd scale model by Trax is superbly detailed, capturing the look of this Australian only design very convincingly.

Simca Aronde Wagon
As a companion to Trax’s Aronde sedan, this wagon is the perfect match. The Aronde wagon was built in Chrysler’s Adelaide plant and was much loved by it loyal customers, who found the design immensely practical with an air of modernity and flexibility not matched by its contemporaries. No wonder the catch cry was “Some Car that Simca”. This 1/43rd scale Trax model is almost jewel like with its exquisite detail and is a must add to your model car collection.

Holden HD Utility
The 1965 HD Holden series was somewhat controversial with its blade like front fenders. Designed mainly in the USA, the HD offered Australians the latest in American styling themes and was a big departure from the earlier EH series. This model by Trax is a faithful replica in 1/43rd scale of the popular Holden ute, which could be found in every Australian city and country town. Of particular note is the front grille design, which really captures the look of the original. Load up with yours today.

Ford Single Spinner Utility
Ford Australia and Lew Bandt in particular can lay claim to designing the world’s first coupe ute. Following on from this great success in the 1930’s, Ford released this Single Spinner utility, based on the 1949 US Ford. A unique Australia only model, these utes are now highly sought after by collectors and this 1/43rd scale replica by Trax will follow the same path.  Finished in a rich green and featuring a wood look rear deck and removable tonneau cover, this is a must have piece of Aussie automotive history.
