Live the Targa via the Shannons Classic Rallye Tour

By Shannons - 08 December 2020

Shannons and TasVacations are proud to present the 2021 Shannons Classic Rallye Tour; the best way to experience both a unique tourist destination and the ultimate tarmac rally, the famous TARGA Tasmania.

Part rally, part tour, all TARGA, the Shannons Classic Rallye Tour is a non-competitive event that combines the best of the Apple Isle with an insider’s view of TARGA, without the stress of competition.

From the moment the flag drops in Launceston, participants in the Shannons Classic Rallye Tour are in the thick of the event, taking in corner after corner of Tasmania’s most thrilling roads. Over 2000 kilometres of pure driving pleasure on empty blacktop is an experience that cannot be paralleled, whether that be amongst World Heritage-listed mountains, atop stark coastal escarpments or deeply ensconced in the primeval forests of the island state.

Unlike those in the competitive classes, the Shannons Classic Rallye Tour gives drivers the time to savour Tasmania’s culinary delights; farm-gate producers, winery cellar doors and local restaurants all specialising in the best Tasmania has to offer. Entrants will lead off the TARGA competitors over certain stages are will need to maintain a reasonable pace to stay ahead of the racers; this is no procession.

To qualify, your car must be a minimum of 30 years old or be eligible for historic registration in your home state. Vehicles must in above-average condition and capable of cruising easily at 90km/h for the duration of the Rallye Tour. After nine days of touring through natural wonders and picturesque townships, the Rallye Tour will finish alongside the TARGA competitors by Hobart’s charming waterfront.

Places are also available for modern classic vehicles; however, these spaces are limited and are allocated based on final overall numbers.
