The Geelong Revival Motoring Festival is proud to present the Shannons City Cruise, taking place on Saturday 12 December from 6:00pm. Entry is free and organisers will be livestreaming the event.

The COVID emergency has claimed many motoring events, especially in Victoria, so it was no surprise when organisers were forced to cancel the 2020 Geelong Revival Motoring Festival. With Victoria now winning the fight, approval has been given to reinstate one popular aspect of the multi-faceted motoring extravagance; the Shannons City Cruise.

Like every year, participation in the Shannons City Cruise is free, however pre-entry is required for contact tracing purposes, so if you’re in the area and own a cool car, now is the time to awake it from its slumber! The Shannons City Cruise attracts classic, contemporary and exotic cars to the streets of Geelong, so there will be something for everyone.

City Cruise

To ensure adherence to social distancing requirements, the 2020 Shannons City Cruise will not actually be a straight out cruise, but a secret treasure hunt. All registered participants will receive a hint for their first checkpoint, with further clues provided as the event unfolds. As far as COVID-based concessions go, that’s actually pretty cool!

Interactivity isn’t restricted to the Shannons City Cruise; tune in to the event’s livestream to see the cars as they criss-cross the Geelong area. A professional, multi-camera broadcast is planned with live, in-car crosses to various participants (well, their passengers) as well as fixed points as the cars roll past.

Spot prizes for lucky or knowledgeable viewers are up for grabs, with Penrite car care packs, canvas prints signed by seven-times Bathurst winner Jim Richards and more on offer. But you’ve got to be watching to win it!

Places in the Shannons City Cruise are limited to 300 cars, so for more information or to register for a place, visit the Geelong Revival website.
