Cooly Rocks On is back for 2021 with classic cars, beautiful bikes, kustom culture, rock & roll and more Elvises than you can shake a blue suede shoe at.

Coolangatta has got plenty of jewels in its crown including sandy beaches, great weather and thriving nightlife, but it’s safe to argue that if your first love is cars, then the most vibrant jewel is Cooly Rocks On.

Shannons is proud to once again partner with Cooly Rocks On, with all the cars, bikes, rock & roll and nostalgia culture that it celebrates. It feels like a lifetime since the last event in 2019, and we’re keen to have you round to the Shannons Hub for a catch up. Grab a coffee and challenge your mates on the racing simulators or climb up to the top deck of the Super Rig to take in the festival from above. We’re hoping to give you a sneak preview of our giveaway Indian Scout Bobber Twenty motorbike, part of the Win Two American Legends prize pool, and over Saturday and Sunday, we’ll have a display of 10 awesome cars brought to you by our friends at the Gold Coast Motor Museum. Make sure you hang around for a bit, because on top of all that, seven times Bathurst winner and touring car legend Jim Richards will be dropping by periodically to shoot the breeze and answer any questions you may have about his life and career. Look for the big green Shannons archway!

The Shannons Show 'N' Shine is now fully subscribed, meaning owners of around 600 cars from the 50s, 60s and 70s will have their chrome gleaming and their fins chamoised, creating a veritable gallery of hot tin for you to pore over. Changes for 2021 have seen a new precinct open at Goodwin Park, along with the regular beats on Marine Parade and Griffith Street. The Shannons Show 'N' Shine runs from 9:00 to 5:00 on both Saturday and Sunday of the event.

A new area, Kustomville, heralds a celebration of Kustom culture with lowbrow art, bombs, lowriders and kustoms. Furthermore, Deathwish Hotrods will be assembling a rolling chassis in the tradition style, right in front of your eyes.

Bikes aren’t forgotten either, with some of Australia’s hottest motorbikes peppering the automotive gathering, along with Indian HQ, provided by major sponsor Indian Motorcycles.

With all this going on, you’d be forgiven for thinking Cooly Rocks On is just cars and bikes, but don’t forget, the word ‘rocks’ is right there in the name. Seemingly endless live music emanating from multiple stages will envelope the entire district in a vintage ambience powered by Fender Stratocasters.

Elvis hasn’t left the building either; in fact, Cooly Rocks On is welcoming the spirit of VIVA Surfers Paradise, with a dedicated Elvis Precinct hosting world-class Elvis tribute artists and the Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Contest.

The King would be proud! And hungry!

Lucky the Coolangatta district is brimming with restaurants, cafes and eateries. Accommodation is available to suit all budgets, from the swankiest of resorts to the backpacker-style Coolangatta Sands Hotel, located right in the thick of the action.

Best of all, this event is free to spectate, so if you’re in the area, stroll on through and take in the sights and sounds. If you’re not in the area, make some arrangements to ensure that you are! It’s one of Australia’s greatest festivals, whether you love cars, bikes, rock or roll.

All you need to know is here. See you there!
