This stunning and fastidiously restored factory right hand drive 1962 Karmann Cabriolet is being offered with ‘no reserve' at Shannons Late Summer Auction on February 22.

Most fascinating for early Volkswagen Beetle enthusiasts is a stunning, fastidiously restored and very rare factory right hand drive 1962 Karmann Cabriolet that is being offered with ‘no reserve’.

Finished in perfect period light blue paintwork with matching blue folding Cabriolet fabric top and new grey vinyl trim, this incredibly rare Beetle Cabriolet is one of just a handful in Australia and the best currently for sale.

The Karmann Cabriolet has undergone a meticulous and sympathetic restoration, correct in virtually every detail for a 1962 model. Its fully documented rebuild included a bare metal respray, a new hood frame and canvas and a brand new interior, using period materials.

The award-winning 1962 VW Karmann Cabriolet being auctioned by Shannons on February 22 is correct in virtually every detail following a meticulous and sympathetic restoration.

Mechanically, the car’s 1200cc engine was rebuilt and all other systems overhauled as necessary.

The Karmann Cabriolet is backed by a Volkswagen Museum Certificate and the quality of its restoration was further confirmed with two awards for Top Quality Restoration at separate 2015 Show & Shine meets.

It is offered for sale on February 22 with ‘no reserve’. Shannons are expecting interest from an International audience in the $40,000-$50,000 price range.

This sought-after 1961 Volkswagen Karmann-Ghia Coupe in recently refurbished condition is expected to sell in the $25,000-$30,000 range.

Also from the Osnabrück coachbuilding firm of Karmann, but with the added styling flair of Italy’s Ghia, is a highly sought-after 1961 Volkswagen Karmann-Ghia Coupe in recently refurbished condition.

Beautifully finished in faultless period Aqua blue and White paintwork with its original white and grey trim and roof-lining in excellent condition, the sleek Coupe was owned by a lady in Queensland prior to its restoration and was  her daily driver.

Now showing 46,229 miles on its odometer, Shannons are expecting the coupe to sell in the $25,000-$30,000 range, making it a stylish and affordable European sports car, either for club use, or again as a daily driver.

This very rare, right hand drive 1969 Volkswagen Dual Cab Transporter offered in unrestored, but fully useable condition is expected to attract bids in the $32,000-$36,000 range.

Also from Wolfsburg, not as stylish, but eminently collectible nevertheless, is a very rare, right hand drive 1969 Volkswagen Dual Cab Transporter offered in unrestored, but fully useable condition.

The increasing desirability and rising values of early VW Commercials has been underscored in recent Shannons Classic Auctions, with this example expected to attract a lot of interest in the $32,000-$36,000 range.

While the VW Beetle and its variants can trace their history back to the inspiration of Professor Ferdinand Porsche, the two Porsches in the February 22 Shannons Auction come courtesy of his son ‘Ferry’ and grandson, ‘Butzi’.

This superb replica of a 1964 Porsche 904 Carrera GTS is expected to sell in the $120,000-$150,000 range.

The standout here is a superb replica of a 1964 Porsche 904 Carrera GTS.

The 904 broke new ground in its first use by Porsche of a ladder-frame chassis, a full fibreglass body and coil spring rather than trailing arm front and rear swing-axle suspension, making it a significant model in Porsche history.

The road-registered 904 GTS replica being auctioned is one of only four replicas built in 2000 using Porsche factory body moulds by noted UK replica specialists Martin & Walker. It was originally owned by racing driver and 1968 London-Sydney Rally organiser Nick Brittan, who ran it in the 1999 Classic Adelaide Rally.

Ready to enjoy in club or historic events, or as a truly exciting road car, the 904 GTS ‘Martin & Walker Replica’ is expected to sell in the $120,000-$150,000 range.

This nicely-presented 1980 Porsche 924 Turbo Coupe is being offered with ‘no reserve’ at Shannons Late Summer Auction on February 22, where it is expected to bring $8,000-$12,000.

Finally in the February 22 auction there is a nicely-presented 1980 Porsche 924 Turbo Coupe being offered with ‘no reserve’.

Fitted with leather trim and in good overall condition, this now rarely-seen front-engined sports car represents a very affordable entry to Porsche ownership at its anticipated selling range of $8,000-$12,000.
