Jaguars roar into Shannons Melbourne Late Summer Auction
• Eye-catching XK150 Roadster
• Two sought-after E-Types
• Superb, fully-restored Mk IV Saloon
A pride of sporting Jaguars spanning more than 50 years will face the gavel at Shannons upcoming Late Summer Auction on February 27.
Staged at Shannons new Melbourne showroom, the auction will see a stellar selection of important vehicles offered in the company’s largest regional sale since Robert Shannons founded the concept of classic auctions in 1981.
The standout Jaguar of the six on offer is an eye catching restored red with cream leather interior 1959 XK150 Roadster that is expected to sell in the $145,000-$160,000 range.
Resplendent with chrome wire wheels, whitewall tyres, a new black folding roof and a matching fitted tonneau cover and a chromed rear luggage rack, the XK150 has been carefully refurbished to make it a comfortable sporting cruiser, with its upgrades including integrated under-dashboard air conditioning and power steering.
With its 3.4 litre engine rebuilt and upgraded to triple SU XK150 S spec and mated to a four-speed manual transmission, the Jaguar remains the pinnacle of Jaguar sporting performance that it was until it was eclipsed by the new E-Type in the early 1960s.
Speaking of E-Types, bidders at Shannons February 27 auction will have the choice of two – a circa 1969 4.2 Series II 2+2 Coupe ($62,000-$68,000) and a superbly presented 1971 Series III V12 Coupe fitted with the rare five-speed manual transmission option ($85,000-$95,000).
Finally, for classic Post War Jaguar enthusiasts there is a beautifully-restored British Racing Green 1947 Jaguar Mk IV 1.5Lt Saloon with matching restored green leather interior that is expected to sell in the $55,000-$65,000 range.
Jaguar Saloon lovers also have two well-presented models to choose from – both offered with ‘no reserve’.
From 1963 comes a very tidy MkII 3.4 saloon presented in excellent original condition that is expected to capitalise on the resurgent value of these classic Jaguars by selling in the $20,000-$30,000 range, while for modern Jaguar enthusiasts there is a 1998-model XJ8 3.2 long wheelbase Saloon with sunroof that is expected to sell in the $8,000-$12,000.
