  • Rare opportunity to own 2-digit Victorian Heritage plate
  • Many ‘lucky’ number combinations on offer
  • Four 5-digit plates at ‘no reserve’

Turning 60 this year? Got a much-loved 1959 classic? Then Shannons has the perfect number plate to help you celebrate at its upcoming Autumn Classic Auction in Melbourne on April 29: the black and white Heritage numerical number plate ‘59’.

59
Number plate collectors have the rare opportunity to purchase one of Victoria's 90 double-digit black and white number plates, it is expected to sell in the $500,000-$650,000 range.
The early issue plate also represents a special opportunity for number plate collectors and investors as it is one of just 90 double-digit Victorian plates ever issued. Others in this select group have been tightly held over the years by prominent families or individuals and rarely coming to market.

Based on previous results Shannons is quoting a guiding range of $500,000-$650,000, but rising values of collectible low-digit number-plates in recent years mean it could easily sell for more.

The number ‘59’ is on one of 14 black and white Victorian Heritage plates on offer at Shannons April 29 auction.
490
The black and white number plate ‘490’ is one of 14 Victorian Heritage plates on offer, where it is expected to sell for $100,000-$150,000.
The four 3-digit plates, which are all conservatively slated to sell for $100,000-$150,000 are ‘467’, ‘490’, ‘582’ and ‘822’.

However much of the bidding action could be for the six, four-digit plates, three of which  – ‘1488’, 8383’ and '9889’ - have significant ‘lucky ‘ or numerically-pleasing connotations.
3456
A number of attractive numeral combinations are on the 14 black and white Victorian Heritage plates on offer.
Alternatively, ‘3456’ offers a very attractive number sequence. Each 4-digit plate is listed with a guiding range of $30,000-$50,000.
10888
All four of the 5-digit plates offered will be offered for sale at ‘no reserve’, with sales expected in the $15,000-$25,000 range.
The four, 5-digit plates also include two with ‘lucky’ numbers – '28.089' and '10.880', but the driving force behind their appeal is that each is offered for sale at ‘no reserve’, with sales expected in the $15,000-$25,000 range.
